Following my visit to the dive show last Saturday I was surprised that the dive operator from Gran Canaria was not there and so I was unable to progress the trip I had been planning. However, a number of other operators from the Canary Islands did have stands and I got information from each of them which I have now looked at . The trip proposal is as follows:
Flying with Ryanair from Leeds/Bradford to Fuerteventura
Out – Friday 11/5 06.20am arrive 10.55am
Return – Friday18/5 11.30am arrive 15.55pm
Current cost for return fare £167.18 including 20kgs hold luggage and 10kgs hand luggage
Staying on a self catering basis at the Barcelo Beach hotel, a 4star complex, in a 2 bed bungalow
Current estimated cost £290pp. This is next to the dive centre.
Diving with deep blue diving based in Caleta De Fueste. See this link http://ogy.de/chl3
They have a house reef and several RIB boats but dive sites are only 10 to 15 minutes away. It has good marine life but few wrecks and water temperature will be around 21-23 degrees.
Diving is flexible in that you can dive as many or as few times as you like and will only be charged for the dives you do. The more dives you do the cheaper each dive costs so for 10 dives cost is 256euros which is roughly £230. This includes Cylinder and weights.
Equipment can be hired or you can take your own.
Transfers from the airport which is close to the dive centre currently £9 return.
Total estimated cost is therefore £695 plus food and drink
The same trip can be done a week later for the same price.
Other hotels are in walking distance of the dive centre. Non divers welcome. There are some bungalows in the Barcelo Beach which sleep 4 people (2 rooms) which makes in a little cheaper per person.
If you are interested let me know asap as flight costs will increase and tell me your preferred week of travel.
Linda, there are several cycling routes for Pat if you are interested
